MICHAEL W. PETTIT has practiced in Collier County since 1993. He attended the University of Toledo College of Law where he was editor-in-chief of the law review and also admitted to the Order of the Coif, graduating first in his class in 1984. Between 1984 and 1986, he worked as a trial law clerk to Judge James P. Churchill in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

From 1986 through 1991, he was an associate with the large international law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, concentrating his practice in business and construction litigation as well as employment law. After moving to Naples, Mr. Pettit was associated with the firms of Grady & Associates and Frost & Jacobs (now Frost Brown Todd) before moving to the Collier County Attorney’s Office in 1994.

During his time with the Collier County Attorney’s Office, he specialized in construction and employment law and litigation as well as handling variety of complex local government issues including land use, licensing and purchasing matters. For the four years immediately prior to joining the firm in 2007, Mr. Pettit was the Chief Assistant County Attorney for Collier County.
